Exercise for Lower Blood Pressure
Five great exercises to aid in lower blood pressure.
Exercise is a great way to lower your blood pressure, the question is, which exercises will help and which ones are just a waste of time? I’m Heart Healthy Henry and I’m going to tell you which exercises are most beneficial when it comes to lowering your blood pressure.
Aerobics
Aerobics have always been a great cardiovascular workout. Depending on your personal style and which motivates you most, you can do aerobic exercises from the comfort of your own home or you can go to the local gym and sign up for one of their aerobic exercise classes.
Walk, Jog or Run
Get out and get moving! Whether it’s a brisk walk, a steady jog or a long run, if it gets your heart going it’s good for you. If you don’t live in an area where it’s feasible to walk, jog or run outside, think about investing in a treadmill or go to the local gym to use one of theirs.
Treadmills come in a variety of models and all different types of price ranges. If you’re going to buy a treadmill for your exercise needs, you’re going to have to plan on spending at least $500 for a decent one, if not more. Treadmills can run into the thousands, so make sure you know what you need and what you want before heading out to the store.
Ride a Bike
Bicycle riding is another great form of exercise that will help you achieve lower blood pressure. Whether you’re riding the bike across your town or you’re on a stationary bike just getting a half an hour of exercise, you’ll be doing a lot of good for your cardiovascular system.
Go Swimming
Swimming isn’t just fun, it’s great exercise for you too. If you’re lucky enough to have a pool, you can swim laps at home. Otherwise check out your local gym or your local YMCA to see about getting a membership so you can use the pool at the facilities for your exercise routine.
Martial Arts
Believe it or not, martial arts is a great form of exercise. Look under the yellow pages and call around to see about scheduling yourself for a few martial arts classes to see how you like them. You may learn a new skill in addition to getting the exercise you need!
